Professor On Kit Tam is Professor of Finance at RMIT University, and Vice President of the Australia China Business Council Victoria. Professor Tam was previously Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor of RMIT University, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Director of China Research Center, Monash University. His previous appointments also include senior positions at the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Treasury, and the University of New South Wales. He has held visiting/adjunct positions with the Australian National University, University of California Berkeley, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, the University of Hong Kong, and Beijing’s Central University of Finance and Economics.

Professor Tam has published extensively on China’s economic and financial reform, and corporate governance. He has been consultant and adviser for major international organisations and corporations including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, ANZ Banking Group, Bankers Trust, Lend Lease, MLC Financial Services, Shanghai Municipal Government, Sichuan Government, and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His research has won significant grants and awards from key Australian and international bodies including the Australian Research Council, University of Maryland (US), Australia China Council, and the Ford Foundation. He has recently served as an independent director of a joint venture fund management company in China set up by Colonial First State of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Director of the Board of Royal District Nursing Services.
