Charles Tang is chairman of the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He was also a member of the World Policy Institute in New York and the Fernand Braudel Institute of World Economics in Sao Paulo. The Brazil China Chamber he presides represents the State of Alagoas and the State Government of Paraiba, Huludao in China.

Charles is a commentator for CCTV News and contributed almost twenty articles to Brazil’s largest newspaper, the “Folha de São Paulo”. He has been published by “Estado de São Paulo”, “Globo”, “China Daily”, “International Finance News” of China’s People’s Daily, “International Business Daily” of Beijing, “The Economist”, and other distinguished publications of the world.

During May 2013, “Brazil China Alliance – A Strategy for Prosperity”, renamed Brazil China - Economic Models of Prosperity in its 2nd edition, a book he authored, was published by Editora Aduaneiras in Brazil.

He is regularly quoted by Brazilian and international media such as The New York Times, The Economist, Financial Times, USA Today, BBC World TV, Le Figaro, Shibom TV, KBS TV, Jiji Press, KBS TV and has been a speaker for The Economist, The Financial Times, Asia Finance, World Investment Forum, CEPAL, China Economic Review, China Mining, London Business School, University of Oxford, Fundação Getulio Vargas, Fundação Dom Cabral, Mare Forum, Global China Business Meeting and other international forums.

He introduced leasing into Brazil as an executive for the Bank of Boston. The first leasing company in Spain was also developed by him as a joint venture with then Banco del Descuento in Madrid.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. He studied law at the Estácio de Sá University in Brazil, where he was also an assistant professor of Economic Development, and completed a doctoral course at Paris V, Sorbonne in France. He presently heads a Brazilian mineral assets development holding company and a financial advisory firm.
