Mr. Ataur Rahman is the Secretary General of ICC Bangladesh, The world business organization since January 2005.

Mr. Rahman has served in many important national and international bodies in various capacities. He was in-charge of the Training Division of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) from April 1975 to January 1980. He also served with the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), a regional inter-governmental organizations with it’s headquarter in Dhaka, from 1980-1997 as Assistant Administrative Officer and Administrative Officer-cum-Treasurer. During 1998-2003, he worked with the Bangladesh Silk Foundation, a World Bank funded project, as General Manager and Managing Director.

To facilitate promotion of trade and investment in Bangladesh, Mr. Rahman has organized and participated in a number of international events both in Bangladesh and abroad. He has been organizing Workshops / Seminars on International Trade Finance, mainly for bankers both in Bangladesh and abroad. Since 2014, such events have been organized in Kuala Lumpur (April 2014); in Colombo (February 2015); in Kunming (August 2015), in Yangon (November 2015), in Hanoi (February 2016), in Jakarta (April 2017) and in Vienna (May 2017).

Mr. Rahman obtained his B.Com (Honours) degree and completed M.Com (Management ) from University of Dhaka in 1969 and 1970 respectively. He obtained his MBA Degree from the De La Salle Graduate School, Manila, Philippines in 1973. Mr. Rahman is a Fellow of the Economic Development Institute (EDI), World Bank, Washington, USA.
