Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin is Founding President of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs, a trustee of several educational and charitable foundations, an Independent Non-Executive Director of two public companies, an advisor or patron to numerous educational and cultural organisations, a committee member of several societies and a Royal Fellow of the National University of Malaysia. In addition to authoring the official book commemorating the Installation of the Eleventh Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, he has also compiled three books from his regular column that has featured in six newspapers since 2008.

He received his MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and subsequently worked in the UK Houses of Parliament, the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore before permanently returning to Malaysia.

An Eisenhower Fellow, he has been selected for various leadership programmes by the governments of
Australia, France and the European Union and has received awards for integrity and impact among young leaders.

Over the years, he has been spoken at several forums and dialogues hosted by ASLI.
